About Lesson

Extended Summary:
The scissor sweep is a fundamental technique used from closed guard to reverse positions by using your legs as a fulcrum to off-balance your opponent. The technique begins by breaking your opponent’s posture and securing a same-side sleeve grip and cross-collar grip. You then place your same-side foot on their hip while bringing your other leg across their torso in a scissoring motion. By pulling on the grips while simultaneously pushing and turning, you create the leverage needed to sweep them. It teaches core principles of leverage, grip control, and using timing over strength.
