About Lesson
Extended Summary:
Back control is arguably the most dominant position in BJJ. With your legs (“hooks”) inside or over your opponent’s thighs and a seatbelt grip (one arm over the shoulder, one under the armpit), you can control their movement while staying behind them. Your chest is glued to their back, making it hard for them to escape. Submissions like the rear naked choke and bow-and-arrow choke become available. Key principles include maintaining chest contact, controlling the choking arm, and switching between double hooks and body triangle for control.
