Extended Summary:
The Upa escape, also known as the bridge-and-roll, is a powerful technique for escaping the mount position. The move uses a strong bridge to off-balance your opponent while controlling one of their arms and trapping the same-side foot. After locking the arm and leg, you bridge up and toward that side, rolling them into your guard or top position. The success of this escape depends on isolating the posting limb and committing fully to the bridge. It’s often the first escape taught to new students because of its simplicity and effectiveness.
