About Lesson
Extended Summary:
Positional hierarchy teaches which positions are dominant (back control, mount), neutral (guard, half guard), or defensive (turtle, bottom mount). The goal of jiu-jitsu is to progress to dominant positions and submit, or to escape inferior ones. Knowing where you are in the hierarchy helps you make smarter decisions — for example, escaping mount before going for a submission. White belts should learn to recognize good vs bad positions and prioritize advancing their position first.
